I still remember the day I heard those sobering, challenging and, to me, life-changing words. No day since has been the same.

After my son was diagnosed, it soon became apparent that I would need to quit my job in the corporate world and focus on him and his world – fulltime. So I became a one-person cause that would eventually grow into a many-person cause which we now call Autism Resource Mom.

I committed myself over the years to learning, understanding and sharing the most effective ways to nurture, protect and prepare a child with autism. Strategies with the potential to reap great rewards for our kids, parents and families. Strategies which have energized the programs and services that Autism Resource Mom provides.

Our founder, Debora Smith, passed away in 2025, but her heartfelt legacy – as she wrote above – has become ARM’s driving force, propelling our families into the future.
